I worked as the public relations director for the Brigham Young University – Idaho Student Veteran Association. I helped establish this association on BYU-Idaho campus to serve our veterans, active military and ROTC.
Through primary research that was conducted it was determined that student veterans at BYU-Idaho feel disconnected from the rest of the students. This is due to the experience they have in battle/combat and this disconnect is what causes them to drop out of school. In the United States almost half of veterans drop out of school after returning home from combat. This can lead to homelessness and the inability to provide for their families.
We found the need for this association and worked hard to establish the association. We drafted letters to the dean of the school and to other on-campus organizations as to find approval of our association.
Below is some information on what we did and how we did it.
